Master Artist Donates Portrait Painting
In Memoriam: Costa Mesa Fire Captain Mike Kreza
[COSTA MESA, CA, November 15] Master Artist, Laurent Dareau, will be donating a beautiful 40×30 portrait of deceased Costa Mesa Fire Captain, Mike Kreza to the Costa Mesa Fire Department to honor and to help heal the hearts of his fire brethren.
Costa Mesa Fire Captain, Mike Kreza, passed away on Nov. 5, 2018, after being struck on his bicycle by a drunken driver. The driver has been charged with murder by Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas.
This loss has left Kreza’s family and an entire community devastated. He survives his wife and three young daughters. The painting was gifted to be shown at his celebration of life memorial service on Nov. 16, 2018, at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest.
Dareau has painted many portraits of prominent public figures such as First Lady Melania Trump,President Donald Trump, Marilyn Monroe, Michelle Obama, and retired O.C. Sheriff Sandra Hutchens.www.laurentdareau.com
Laurent Dareau, born and raised in Paris, France, graduated and received his Masters of Fine Arts from the National Superior Decorative Art School in 1997. Many of his paintings have been collected by celebrities and well-known figures such as Carole Bayer Sager, former Chairman of 20th Century Fox, Yvette Mimieux Ruby, former Chairman of Disney Studios, Ben Crenshaw, Raymond Floyd, and Former Chairman and CEO of Warner Bros, Los Angeles Dodgers.

Firefighters are everyday heroes.
My name is Laurent Dareau, I am a painter, artist as some say, and I try to fight the fires we have in our souls with my works, firefighters fight the real fire.
In a time of dissensions, these elite men unite all of us behind their pledge, saving lives, whatever sacrifice they might have to make, even at the cost of their own lives.
My first work celebrating them was the 9 Eleven project, back to 2011, I was so moved by the commemoration of the fall of the twin towers, I created a video and several paintings remembering their dedication and their honor. Then in 2017, I created a large mural for the Bonita Springs fire house, Florida. A 16 by 60 feet painting representing iconic images that we all have engraved in our memories, after the tragedy that has stricken New York, and indeed the entire world.
I have recently started a new series portraying firefighters, they are ordinary men accomplishing extraordinary tasks, difficult and dangerous. I was showing some of these paintings to friends when I heard about the loss of Captain Kreza, and was so saddened by the pictures of his lovely family, as a father myself, I cannot imagine the heartbreaking situation his wife and children are facing. He will always be with them, in their souls and thoughts…
My firefighters are alive, they model for me, they are not my brothers or my longtime friends, but I love them, for what they do, for what they represent, for their example and their bravery, for their kindness and their love for others.
Captain Kreza is gone, stolen too early from our hearts, I just wanted to add his dignity to the series, so he can stand with his brothers, as he will always do anyway. I have never met him, but painting his eyes and his smile was deeply emotional, and his family, despite their sadness and their infinite loss, will keep his souvenir alive. Laurent was born and raised in Paris, France. He received his Masters of Fine Arts from the National Superior Decorative Art School in Paris in 1997 and his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the National Fine Art School in Lyon in 1992.
